Ep 109: Greg Mike - Surrealist Pop Artist & Gallery Owner/Curator
Greg Mike is a contemporary artist known for his signature characters, bold street art, mural paintings and Larry Loudmouf icon that blend intensely colourful designs with surrealist pop culture. His artistic mantra is “Live Life Loud”.
Based in Atlanta, Greg is also the founder and curator of ABV Gallery which focuses on the New Contemporary movement, exhibiting over 500 emerging and established artists since it was established. It has become a cornerstone of Atlanta's thriving art community, showcasing works of art that challenge and inspire visitors. And this year is a big one for the gallery - in September the gallery and event space’s newly renovated, 8500 square feet location opens in the heart of East Atlanta Village.
Greg has painted murals globally and you can find his studio work on view in galleries and museums around the world. His work has been collected by some people you may have heard of - Justin Bieber, Diplo, Swizz Beats and Nina Dobrev, to name a few. He’s worked with companies like Nike, Coca-Cola, Facebook, Google, Spotify, BMW and the Atlanta Braves baseball team.
On this episode, host Angela de Burger chats with Greg about how he celebrates playfulness in his work, how he explores contrasts in his designs, what he loves about being part of a vibrant arts community, and he shares behind-the-scenes details about his upcoming solo show and gallery opening.
