Ep 88: Lucy Butler - Historic Site Sculptor
Lucy Butler is a sculptor who handmakes pieces that are inspired by the ruins of Irish churches, abbeys and houses that capture her imagination.
She studied Model Making for Film and Media at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology and worked in that field for several years. Then, she felt a call to return to her roots.
Today, Lucy specializes in historic sites and the details they offer up as she gives them time to reveal themselves. She says she is constantly drawn to fantasize about places and life, to a world without limits and a world of ‘what ifs’.
On this episode, host Angela de Burger chats with Lucy about why she made a big shift in her creative career to become a sculptor, why she is so captured by these places from the past, her creative process when designing a new piece, and how she connects with people about her work, both online and in person.
